01
Before you light
Trim your wick.
As your candle burns, you may notice “mushrooming”: a small
carbon buildup at the tip of the wick. Before every burn,
allow the wax to cool and trim the wick to approximately
5 mm, removing the mushroom and any loose trimmings.
This helps reduce soot and oversized flames while
encouraging a steadier burn.
A small trim makes a beautiful difference.
02
The first burn
Let the wax melt evenly.
Short burns can cause “tunnelling,” leaving wax around the
sides of the jar. Allow enough time for the melted wax to
reach the edges, which may take around 1.5 hours or longer
depending on the candle’s size. Always follow the burn time
on your candle’s label, and never exceed four hours to
chase a full melt pool.
Give your candle time to find its glow.
03
Find the right spot
Set the scene safely.
Place your candle on a level, heat-resistant surface,
away from drafts and anything that can catch fire.
Open windows and fans can create an unstable flame.
A calm, even surface helps your candle burn evenly
and keeps your space safer.
A steady surface. A draft-free space.
04
Know when to pause
Keep burns under four hours.
We love the peaceful atmosphere of a lit candle, but
let it rest after no more than four hours—or sooner if
the label specifies. Longer sessions can overheat the
container and lead to soot. Allow the jar and wax to
cool completely before trimming the wick and lighting again.
Beautiful moments deserve a little pause.
05
While it glows
Watch the flame.
If the flame flickers excessively, produces a lot of
smoke, or becomes unusually high, extinguish your candle.
Give it time to cool, check for drafts, and trim the wick
to approximately 5 mm before relighting. Never leave a
burning candle unattended.
A calm flame is a cared-for flame.
06
Naturally beautiful
Embrace a little texture.
A bumpy or uneven surface after cooling can be normal
with natural wax blends. Temperature changes and cooling
conditions can affect how the surface looks. This texture
alone does not mean something is wrong with your candle;
continue following the same care steps before your next burn.
Natural wax has its own character.
